William ‘Hiram’ Simkins                                                                                                                                                                               March 4, 1932 – April 10, 2024

Our Lord and Savior called William ‘Hiram’ Simkins home on April 10th, 2024, at the age of 92.   Hiram will be greatly missed but has left such an impact on many lives while he was here.  Hiram was born on March 4th, 1932, in Omaha, Arkansas to Everett and Luvene (Williams) Simkins.  Hiram spent his childhood and teen years working and playing on the family farm in the majestic Ozark Mountains.  Hiram talked about how wonderful and Godly his parents were and how close he was with his 10 siblings.

Eventually, at the age of 14, Hiram met the beautiful, Versa Eutona Hedrick (who was two years younger at the time) at the same school he attended in Blue Eye, MO.  He told his friends; she would be the girl he would marry someday.  After a lengthy friendship and very strict courtship instilled by Eutona’s parents, God’s perfect plan came into fruition.   The two were then married on April 24th, 1954, in Blue Eye, Missouri right on the Missouri/Arkansas border.  The happy young couple spent the next few years living in Kansas City, MO. then headed west to make their new home in Commerce City, Colorado, where they lived in and around that area for many years. In 1969 they expanded their family with an addition of a handsome baby boy they named William Keith, they cherished him more than anything in the world.  Hiram and Eutona later decided in 1972, a quieter pace of life in which to raise their son was desired.  That is when they moved for the final time to Montrose, Colorado where they have made their home ever since.  Hiram lived life to the fullest and had many interests and hobbies he enjoyed.  But his greatest passion in life was his close relationship with God, which led him to becoming a pastor for Church of God of Prophecy in Montrose, CO for 40 years.   Hiram was a passionate preacher and used his anointing to teach everyone he knew about Jesus.  When he was not preaching, he made a living in concrete construction.  He passed that skill and business down to his hardworking son, who learned everything he knew from his equally hardworking dad.  Hiram spent his free time appreciating the natural beauty of Colorado through his passion for the outdoors.  He liked to fish, camp and hunt.  He liked to play his guitar for his church and family, he loved to spend time riding and caring for his many horses he’s had throughout the years.  He was a true cowboy.  Hiram and Eutona loved and cherished each other and enjoyed spending time with their many friends and family.  But they’re hearts were fullest when they were with their two amazing grandsons, Skyler and Cole who they loved and spoiled immensely.  Hiram led a full and happy life while he was here with us. We are all Blessed to have known him.

Hiram was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Luvene (Williams) Simkins; his wife, Versa Eutona (Hedrick) Simkins; his six sisters, and three brothers.  Survivors include his son, William Keith and (Andrea) Simkins of Colorado; his twin sister Violet (Simkins) Youngblood of Missouri; two grandsons William Skyler Simkins, Andrew Cole Simkins, and granddaughter   Christina (Jeremy) Harmon; bonus son Steve and (LaTonya) Madrid all of Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate Hiram’s life are being held at Crossroads Victory Church 515 S.
