Born on October 25, 1939 in Ventura County California, Verna lived

retirement in 1983, when she moved to Ridgway, Colorado with her

husband Frank Corning who she had wed in 1977.

While in Ridgway, Verna and Frank immersed themselves in their new

community and were very active participants. Verna was known for

being very independent, for loving the solitude and beauty o

f western Colorado and for her generosity. She had several favorite

charities that she faithfully supported. She enjoyed collecting

antiques, coins and stamps and spending quiet time at home

watching her favorite show “Cops”.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Frank Corning, her

parents Jess and Gertie (Barnes) Naten and her nine siblings, Naomi,

Maxine, Marsha, Jack, Jesse, Richard, Franklin, Marvin and Walter.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Per Verna’s request, no services are planned. She was laid to rest

next to her husband, Frank at Dallas Park Cemetery in Ridgway,

Colorado. Should you be so inclined, memorial contributions may be

made to HopeWest or the Salvation Army
