It is with heavy hearts that the Martinez Family said Goodbye to our Beloved Father and Grandfather Tom Martinez. Tom age 87, passed away peacefully in his daughter's home in Olathe Co. with family by his side.
Tom was born in Montrose Co. to Tony and Rose Martinez. He was the youngest of two sons. He graduated from Montrose High School in May 1954. Tom served in the U.S Navy from May 1958-Jan 1963. Tom married the love of his life Elizabeth Aragon. They lived in Anaheim CA where he worked on aviation airplanes. This is where Shaunna was born. In 1964 Tom, Elizabeth, and Shaunna moved to Montrose Co. This is where Sharon and Mark were born. He helped his mother and stepfather Rose and Eli Landers with the business Montrose Dry Cleaners. The business thrived on main street for 50 yrs. He continued raising his family in the business. He enjoyed serving the community offering a delivery service to customers in the white Dry Cleaners Van.
Tom was a prominent businessman in the community. He was a member of the American Legion, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Elks lodge. He was an active member of the St Mary’s Catholic Church. He loved to bowl, shoot pool, camp, and spend time with his family. He was often found at yard sales picking up artwork and antiques. He was a big fan of “Bob Dejulio’s Artwork”. He enjoyed serving the community. He will be missed by many.
Tom is survived by 3 children, 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.
He leaves behind daughter Shaunna Maurer, grandchildren Mike (Alicia) Garcia, Dylan Martinez, Kassandra Largent. Great grandson Isaiah Largent.
Daughter-Sharon Brockman, grandchildren Alyssa McCarthy, Jordan (Cody)Davenport.
Son-Mark Martinez (Deborah) Martinez grandchildren Maxamillian Martinez, Mark Thomas II (Logan) Martinez. Marie Martinez. Great grandchildren Mia Martinez, Emma Martinez.
He is proceeded in death by his parents Tony Martinez, Rose Landers, Eli landers, brother Henry Martinez, ex-spouse Elizabeth Rowland.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Crippin Funeral Home chapel 802 E Main St Montrose, Co 81401.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Montrose Elks Lodge #1053, 801 South Hillcrest at 2 pm after ceremony for family and friends.
