Teresa Henrietta Biggs — July 17, 1936 to June 26, 2026

Teresa Henrietta Biggs of Montrose, Colorado passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026. She was born July 17, 1936, in Cubero, New Mexico, the daughter of Santiago and Margarita Sanchez.

Teresa lived a life centered on family, faith, and hard work. She owned and operated her own restaurant, La Villa de Teresa, in Ogden, Utah, where she built a loyal community of regular customers who loved her cooking and her warm, welcoming spirit. In 1990, she was honored with the Phoenix Award, celebrating the Spirit of the American Woman — a recognition of her strength, resilience, and dedication.

In her earlier years, Teresa worked as a disc jockey for a Mexican radio station in Kansas City, Kansas, sharing music and culture with her listeners. She loved cooking her famously red chili, bean, rice, sopapillas, and sour cream peach pie for her visitors. Guests in her home were always greeted by the comforting smell of good food.

Teresa is survived by her husband of 39 years, Richard H. Biggs; her daughters Margaret (Paul) Espinoza of Montrose, Colorado and Victoria Parra of Worland, Wyoming; and her sons Manual (Dorothy) Lemos, Richard Lemos, and Raul (Tracy) Lemos of Taylorsville, Utah. She leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 50 great‑grandchildren, and 20 great‑great‑grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Dolores Usquiano and her biological parents, Santiago and Margarita Sanchez; her daughter Cordelia Lopez; her sisters Consuelo Fleming, Nora Aguayo, Florella Buck. She was also proceeded in death by her brothers Christino, Jose and Santiago (Jimmy) Sanchez and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held October 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Ogden City cemetery at 1875 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah. A gathering to honor Teresa’s life will follow at the Lindquist Community Center located at 3434 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah.
