Obituary

Patrick Thomas “Pat” Warren passed from this earth on September 18, 2026, in Lewistown, Montana, at the age of 78.

Pat was born on September 7, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas. As a young boy, he lived in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse in first grade. In 1959, he moved to Montrose, Colorado. He graduated from Montrose High School with the Class of 1966 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western State College, now Western Colorado University.

Throughout his working life, Pat held several positions, including serving with the federal Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) and as the Montrose County Building Inspector.

In the early 2000s, Pat moved to Montana and purchased a farm and ranch near Grass Range, where he made his home for the remainder of his life. His final business venture was as co-owner of S & P Fuel in Lewistown, hauling fuel to farmers and ranchers throughout the surrounding region.

Pat is survived by his two brothers, Fred Warren and Chris Warren; his two daughters, Shirley Warren and Donna Harrison & Foster son Joe Garcia; his three grandchildren, Micheal, Stephen, and Daniel Harrison; and his great-grandchild, Beckett Harrison.

To all of Pat’s wonderful friends in the Grass Range and Lewistown area: Thank you for the friendship, kindness, and laughter you shared with him. Beneath Montana’s wide-open skies, you gave him a sense of belonging and made his life richer. Our family is deeply grateful for each of you. May the stories you share and the memories you carry keep his spirit close, like a familiar voice carried on the prairie wind.

A funeral service will be held at a later date.

What can be said of the Warrens?

Salt of the earth, honorable, devout.

A Warren knows their duty and with purpose and integrity they see their commitments done and done right.

But behind that monument of virtue is the mischevous smile, the twinkling eye that promises a little fun and a few broken rules:

the joy of crusts cut from a fresh, hot loaf and slathered with honey and butter

the peace of land well worked,

of hens in their houses and horses in their stables.

A Warren is a hard worker,

a Warren keeps their word,

a Warren doesn't know a stranger and walks after God as best they can.

A Warren is the warmest hug you'll ever have,

the truest friend you'll ever know,

and most infectious smile you'll ever see.

Pat wrestled with this life.

He was no stranger to the depths of sorrow this world offers.

But what a sunrise he was as well;

bright, warm, and exuberant joy.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, the meek, blessed are those who mourn.

May the angels lead you into paradise.
