Michael A. Williams, 74, of Montrose, CO, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026.
Born on August 24, 1951, In Camp Rucker, Alabama, Mike grew up in Holt, Michigan, where he graduated from Holt High School in 1969. He went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University in 1973. In his early 20s, Mike moved to Aspen, Colorado where he discovered his lifelong love of skiing and started a successful business which he ran during the years he lived there. After moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico, he continued to operate a very prosperous floor-covering business, and it was there he met his wife Angela. In 1997, Mike and his family moved to Ridgway, Colorado, where he became involved with the Mountain Medical Center and was instrumental in the building of the new Ridgway High School.
Mike is survived by his wife of 35 years, Angela Williams, His children Chadwick Williams and Chelsea (Williams) Cain with her husband Matt Cain; their mother, Brenda Williams; grandchildren Zachary Williams, Hartley Cain and Everly Cain; His sister Cheryl Morrison with her husband Roger Morrison; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Robin and Bob Mehmen of Peoria, Arizona; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Pamela McCardell and Deke Cloyd of Spokane, Washington; and his mother-in-law Georgia Rodgers of Sun City West, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Rex Williams of Holt, Michigan, and his mother, Sharon Jeanne Williams of Apache Junction, Arizona.
Mike was an avid boater, an enthusiastic snow skier, and had a lifelong passion for fast cars and motorcycles. He will be deeply missed by many, but most profoundly by his beloved wife, Angela, who shared a lifetime of love and companionship with him.
A celebration of life will be held at the Ute Indian Museum on Friday, September 25th, 2026 from 1:00-4:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose, Colorado.
