Mary Lupita Barba passed away in the early hours of February 26, 2026, in Montrose, Co. The main event of Mary’s life may be over, but her legacy lives on. Born November 20, 1944, in Monte Vista, Co she was the first-born daughter of Martin Amador Bercillio and Angie Portfillia Duran. Her older brothers Amadeo Bercillio, Fermin Bercillio, Benny Bercillio and a younger sister all preceded her in death. John Bercillio, Annie Velasquez, and Larry Velasquez all currently in Montrose are the younger siblings. She had a special place in her heart for her older brothers while John was her friend whom she called daily to talk to. She will be greatly missed by her children Kathy Lopez, Tony Manzaneres, and Alvin Manzanares as well as her six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Mary loved having fun laughing, dancing, and was one of the hardest workers ever known. She loved watching wrestling and talking with those she held close. She loved her baby Ricco which was her dog that she cooked meals for and would defend him before any human on this earth. Mary’s strength and motivation to raise her kids, work hard, make a good life and have the most immaculate house was incomparable to others. She was loving, kind, supportive and could speak her mind with no hesitation. There was no guessing with her as she would give it to you straight which is why she was a true matriarch of this family. Her nephew Martin Bercillio, her nieces Annie Bercillio, Lori Bercillio Landice and Catrina Bercillio Abeyta will never forget how she laughed and loved them. Mary rededicated her life to God on her last day here and made her way to Jesus where she could reunite with all she longed for especially Garrick who she lost just seven weeks prior, her beloved grandson. Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better than a fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.” There will be a celebration dinner at the Montrose Elks Lodge on Saturday April 11, from 1pm-5pm. Her daughter has invited all that would like to honor and remember Mary to attend.
