Marsha Danon Kop (Wellman)

Marsha Danon Kop, 64, passed away on March 27, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Co. after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Delta, Co. on August 20, 1952 to Donald and Dorothy Wellman.  Marsha grew up in the mining town of Silverton, Co, where she attended grade school.  Her family later moved to Montrose, Co. there she attended Montrose High School.  She married her sweetheart Marcel Kop on January 25, 1969 in Eckert, Co.  They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year.

Marsha worked at the Montrose Credit Union, Tri County Water and her most current employment was as the administrator for her and her husband’s partnership, San Miguel Building and Spa of Telluride, Co.  She was passionate about helping others, two legged and four legged.  This was demonstrated by her many contributions to various charities throughout her life.  Marsha adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She loved getting together with her family to go camping in Utah, four wheeling, snowmobiling and out for rock hunting excursions.  She was an exceptionally talented artist who shared her drawings, paintings, stained glass, cross stitch and ceramics with her family and friends.  There wasn’t a room in their home that hadn’t been touched by her gift of creativity.  Marsha loved fishing with her son Marty, they were the best of fishing buddies.  She could grow anything in her garden, loved watching football and looked forward to her gambling trips with her husband.

Marsha is survived by her mother Dorothy Wellman of Montrose, Co., husband Marcel, daughter Michelle Downey, husband Rod and son Marty all of Montrose.  She is also survived by her sister Melody Krebs, husband Lynn, brother Robert Wellman all of Montrose.  Sister Denise Stickles and husband Gary Johnson of Delta, Co.  Her grandchildren Joselyn Kop, Riley Farnese husband Raphael, Haley Downey Fiance’ Joshua Sanders and Kristi Iverson husband Garin all of Montrose.  She has seven great grandchildren, Cameron, Aiden, Harlow, Emma, Jade, Jax and Alessa of Montrose.  She is preceded in death by her father Donald Wellman.  Marsha’s wishes were to have a Celebration of Life for her family and friends to be held at a later date.  Rather than memorial donations or flowers, the family requests you do a good deed in her memory.  What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.  All that we love deeply becomes part of us.  Helen Keller  Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
