Marilynn Jane, age 92, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2025.
Marilynn was born on February 3, 1933 in Herman, Nebraska. She was the youngest of three born to Robert and Mabel Rasmussen. She graduated from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, with a degree in teaching. She went on to be a teachers assistant at Northside Elementary School, as well as delivering papers with her kids in a 1947 Nash and a painter. She also tended bar and worked at city market as a cashier where she retired from. Marilynn’s next occupation was a farmer's wife and did with it style for many years by Tom’s side.
Marilynn was known for her love of sewing, crafting, gardening, floral arranging, making quilts, and baking. Well known for her chocolate angel food cake! She had a special heart for children and anyone in need. Marilynn was a faithful member of the Montrose Christian Church, where she loved greeting people each Sunday with a warm smile. She was also a longtime member of the Cattle Women Association, where she built lasting friendships and proudly supported ranching and farming communities.
Marilynn married Veldon Phillips which produced 7 children, Robyn, Kimberely, Shawn, Darcy, Jan, Kyle and Dawn. It later ended in divorce. She married Kenneth Wold in the late 70’s. Kenny precedes her in death. She married Tom English in 1985. They shared almost 40 years!
Marilynn is survived by her beloved husband, Tom English, of Montrose; her children Robyn (Gene) Westergaard, Kimberly Witt-Phillips, Shawn (Gary) Linsacum, Kyle (Jeannie) Phillips and Dawn (Keith) Roberts; her stepdaughter Michelle (Joel) Dracon; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and 5 step grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mabel Rasmussen; her children Darcy and Jan Phillips; brother Robert (Bobby) Rasmussen; sister Phyllis McMullen; grandsons Timothy Linsacum and Kevin Rider.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Montrose Christian Church, with burial to follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Friday, June 27, at Crippin Funeral Home.
