Lois Veo

d. February 1, 2015

Lois Marie Veo passed away February 1, 2015 at Heidi’s Chateau. She was 84 years old. Lois was born December 15, 1930 in Montrose, CO to Robert and Pearl Carnal. She grew up in the Ridgway area and attended school by riding there on her little horse, Lady. She married Richard “Dick” Veo, Novemeber25, 1948 at the ranch in Cimarron where they lived for 52 years before moving to Montrose.

Lois worked on the ranch beside Dick doing whatever needed to be done. You could see her out working in the hay field all day, then come in and cook a meal fit for a king. She was known for her wonderful cooking and especially her cinnamon rolls! Everyone was always welcome and no one went away hungry. Lois belonged to the Wool Grower’s Auxiliary, and the Cimarron Club.

Family and friends were very important to her and many memories were made at the ranch and the cabin on the Little Cimarron. Dick and Lois loved snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and dancing. They played as hard as they worked!  Her sense of humor and positive spirit was an inspiration to her friends and family.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Shawna) Veo,  of Parachute, CO, Daughter Kay (Lon) Hadland, Aime (Benny) Archuleta, all of Montrose, CO, Grandchildren Lindi (Tim) Ligon, Kyle Veo, Renae (Lew) Wildon, Katy (Trent) Knez, Nathan (Janel) Sanburg, Staci (Jon) Turner, Chandra (Bill) Thurston, Shamus (Darcy) Howe, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Lyle Carnal, of Prescott, AZ, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, and three brothers.

The family would like to thank everyone at Heidi’s Chateau and P.A.C.E. for all the care and love shown to our Mom/Grandma. In Lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Parkinson’s Fund or Juvenile Diabetes.

There will be a Memorial Service at Christ Church of the Valley in Montrose at 11:00 AM, February 7, 2015. Friends and Family are welcome. Arrangements are under the care of Crippin Funeral Home.
