Larry Grater passed away on November 3, 2024, at his home in Olathe, Colorado, at the age of 77. Born on September 24, 1947, Larry dedicated much of his life to his career at Recla Metal, a field in which he excelled due to his hardworking and diligent nature. Larry served honorably in the Navy, where he developed a reputation for his resilience and commitment. His experiences forged a lifelong appreciation for discipline and hard work. Beyond his professional and military life, Larry was profoundly devoted to his family and the great outdoors. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman, always cherishing the time spent in the woods or at a lake. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were the ways he connected with nature and shared valuable lessons and moments with his loved ones. He was a kind, compassionate, and generous man, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of encouragement. His love for the outdoors was paralleled only by his love for his family, with whom he enjoyed working, spending time, and creating lasting memories. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Linda Grater; children, Henry Grater, Tina Boutwell, Nicole Grater, and Justin Grater; grandchildren, Emily Grater, Miley Grater, Zach Boutwell and (wife) Samantha Warner, and Nick Grater, Kylie Grater; and great-grandchildren, Ezra, Heather, Gavin, and Gianna. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth and Mariam, and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Gladys, and siblings, Jacketta, Retta, Helen, Charlotte, Ray, Bobbie, Gene, and Billy. A service to honor Larry's life will be held on Saturday, November 9th at 11 AM at Bible Baptist Church in Olathe. All who knew him will remember his life and legacy as a testament to his profound impact on their lives. Memorial contributions can be made to Bank of Colorado in place of flowers.
