Larry Lee Anders passed away June 19th, 2026, at his Montrose home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Larry Anders was born to John Clifton Anders and Phyllis Lucille Anders (Dickerson) in Delta Colorado on August 12th, 1950, the first to appear as his identical twin brother Jerry often says, “I had to kick him out ahead of me”! Larry grew up on the family farm west of Olathe on Dry Creek along with his eldest brother Johnny and sister Paula.

Larry attended Stone school, Olathe schools and graduated from Montrose High School in 1968. Competition was part of life in the Anders family and with Larry and Jerry it was what pushed them to excel in everything they tackled, most of the time together with their special bond.

Larry was an accomplished student athlete. He was a Montrose high school all conference running back, baseball player, and GVL all conference 1st basketball team for Olathe High.

Larry and Jerry as an inseparable duo received a full ride baseball scholarship to Northwest Oklahoma state University where Larry lettered 4 years and as a senior was an all-American, playing short-stop and second base. Larry received his BA in sociology and physical education.

At age 9 brother Johnny showed “the twins” as they were often referred to, their first cords on an old guitar and Larry’s lifelong passion for music began. From 1973 to 1978 Larry and Jerry went on the road with their music, traveling all over the northwestern US and southwest Canada. “The Anders Brothers Band” was a household name for 55 years.

Larry loved his family and friends and through the years we had many family gatherings and Sunday dinners on the farm that will be remembered dearly.

Larry loved more than anything, the precious time he spent with his wife Patricia, stepdaughter Megan and his grandchildren Sutton and Jackson.

Larry was a great friend and teammate to all those he played Fastpitch Softball with through the years. The Hunting camps on the Wolford Ranch in East Dallas creek looking up at the San Juans were some of the best times. Larry Loved all the Fishing adventures, the phrase Larry was known for “Get the Net!!!!!!” always made us laugh. Or the time spent around a campfire with guitars and songs. Good times were spent with Jerry, Ted Cole and brother Johnny making music and recording music in Johnny’s Sunny Daze recording studio. Larry loved all the time with his brotherhood at Montrose Elks Lodge of which he was a lifetime member. Larry was a hard worker and had a lifelong career surveying and enjoyed his years working at Montrose County Road and bridge.

Larry was a devoted son, brother, uncle, husband, grandfather and friend who will be admirably missed. All these memories will be treasured immensely and will always keep Larry close to our hearts. We love you Larry, you made all our lives brighter and more meaningful!!!!

Larry is survived by His Wife Patricia Anders and stepdaughter Megan Hubbard, grandchildren Sutton and Jackson. Twin Jerry, Toni Anders, nephews Benny, Andrea Harrison, great nieces Izzy, Addie, Willy and Dawn Harrison. Brother Johnny Anders, nieces and nephews Suzanne, Steven, Brandy, Amy, and Ryan. Nephew Bodie, Gina Blowers, great nieces Cora and (Keagan Goodwin), Andie Blowers. With numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents John and Phyllis, sister Paula and nephew Ryan Anders

Services will be held at Montrose Christian Church on Saturday July 11th at 10am with family and friends gathering to follow in the fellowship hall. A celebration of life is planned at the Montrose Elks on August 22, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Larry, what a life you lived, more than most can even imagine. Your laughter will be missed and the laughter and happiness you brought to those around you. Laughter and happiness were your biggest gifts and will be forever cherished.
