Kenneth Ray Walker, affectionately known as Kenny, passed away peacefully on October 8, Kenny was born on November 1, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas. He was raised in Montrose, Colorado and always lived life to the fullest. He graduated from Montrose High school in 1966. He was co-editor of the school newspaper and played in the band called “The Group”. His love of music continued throughout his life when he wrote songs, and played his guitar.
Kenny hitchhiked to New York twice. He then traveled extensively throughout Europe and lived in France, Italy, Greece, and Saudi Arabia. He moved back to Montrose where he worked at Old Home Highlights in Ridgway and was eventually able to buy the business and moved it to Montrose. Kenny purchased a house outside of Montrose which became his “refuge”. He delighted in its continual evolution.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents David and Iola Walker and his sister Bonnie Crockett. He is survived by his brother Steve, nieces Grace and Jillian Walker and nephews Jeremiah Walker, Josh, Matthew, Micah, and Jaden Crockett. as well as many loved great-nephews, great-nieces and cousins. He also leaves behind daughter Wendy Willden, and grandchildren, Eli, Tyler, Caleb, Halee, and son in law Jason Archer and many cherished lifelong friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4 at Grand View Cemetery in Montrose. An informal celebration of life will follow at the Cobble Creek Clubhouse.
