Obituary

Kenneth J. Labrum (Mutt) died on July 19, 2026, two days before his 86 birthday. Mutt was born in Grand Junction, Colorado. Spent his life in Colorado, Utah, Texas, back to Colorado and then spent the last 30 years in Lakeport, California with his second wife Shirley Patton, taking care of her mother, the homesteaded land of her parents and then he took care of Shirley until her passing in January of 2024. He came back to Colorado and lived with his son Jeff and his wife Kathy for the last two years. This is where he got to know his grandkids again, then great grandchildren and great great grandson.

Mutt was a carpenter by trade. He built many homes, businesses and even worked at the Ridgeway and Dolores dams. When he was a much younger man he coached his son and classmates in little league baseball in Olathe. Lots of great memories come from this time in his and Jeff’s life.

He was the second to last of 11 children born to Rosco J. and Catherine (Hicks) Labrum the last one to leave this earth. He was also preceded in death by his oldest daughter Vicki and her husband Randy Trounce, and his youngest daughter Betty Mitchell.

No services planned. When you see an Elk or mule deer give a wave and remember Mutt
