Karen Brewer Watson

December 16, 1959 — April 22, 2024

Montrose

Karen Brewer Watson passed away on April 22, 2024 surrounded by her family at her home in Montrose Colorado at the age of 64 after a long battle of liver failure.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

Karen was born on December 16, 1959, in Tooele Utah to Margene Breitgam and Jim Hartley.  She spent her childhood in Grantsville Utah where she attended school with her brothers Robert and Tommy and sister Kristy.  She participated in FFA and the Larietts drill team at Grantsville high school.

Karen married Jess Brewer in Tooele Utah and later had a son Travis Brewer in 1983.  They later divorced and Karen worked 2 jobs to support Travis and herself.  She was a very hard-working and dedicated loving mother.  She married Jeff Watson in 1984 and they just celebrated their 40-year anniversary this past Easter. In 1987 they welcomed their daughter Holly and felt their family was complete.  In 1999 the family moved to Montrose Colorado and made it their home.  Karen went to college and received her CNA degree and worked at several assisted living homes where she loved caring for and helping people. In 2013 she took in her mother-in-law and was her primary caregiver until 2020.  Karen loved the outdoors.  Fishing, camping, hunting, sitting on the lake at sunrise with her husband or in the mountains in all orange ready to hunt.  She loved cooking in her dutch oven and sitting by the campfire. She took pride in her yard and loved planting and tending to her vegetable garden.  She never missed an opportunity to be outside.  She loved a beautiful sunset, the sound of rain on a metal roof and watching the geese land in the field next to the house. Her family was the most important aspect of her life.  She loved being a grandmother. She loved all animals and especially her dog Tika Bean.

Karen is survived by her husband Jeff Watson, daughter Holly Watson, son Travis Brewer Watson, mother Margene Dudley, brothers Robert Rupp and Tom (Linda) Dudley, grandsons Jerrett and Brekken Reese, Trace, Gabriel and Ellis Brewer and best friend Randi Lewis.
