Karen Kay
Haumont
Jul 15, 1950 — Jun 22, 2026
Karen Kay Haumont, born July 15, 1950, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Owen and Lois Haumont, passed away on June 22, 2026, at Valley Manor Care Center in Montrose, Colorado. She was 75 years old.
A lifelong resident of Montrose, Karen attended Morgan Elementary School and The Happiness School for the developmentally challenged. She worked for 30 years on the culinary staff at San Juan Living Center before retiring.
After caring for her parents, Karen moved into The Homestead Assisted Living Facility, which she affectionately called her “perfect resort lifestyle.” She often said with a smile, “I don’t have to cook or clean—they do it all for me!”
Karen had a deep love for travel and was an active member of the local chapter of the Good Sam Club. She possessed a gentle and loving nature, especially toward small children and pets. Above all, Karen loved the Lord and looked forward to her heavenly home, where she would be reunited with family and friends who had gone before her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Lois Haumont; her brother, Dwight Haumont; and her nephew, Jeremy Fresques.
Karen is survived by her brother, Gailard Haumont of Montrose, Colorado, her sister, Sherry Fresques of Glendale, Arizona, 3 nieces and 2 nephews.
Her kind heart, joyful spirit, and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Karen will be interred at Grand View Cemetery and a private family memorial will be held at a later date.
