Julia Ruth (Prottengeier) Arndt died at her home on August 26, 2025. She was born to Julius and Ruth Prottengeier on July 10, 1939 in Montrose. She attended Oak Grove School and was a graduate of Montrose High School. She attended UNC and graduated with a degree in Business Education. She taught for a short time at Lutheran High School in Denver before returning to Montrose to teach business for 31 at her high school alma mater.
Julia was briefly married to Larry Lammert which ended in a divorce. She met and married Emory Arndt of Montrose. She immediately became the mother of Emory’s four children from his previous marriages.
She led the Future Business Leaders of America at Montrose High School. One of her teams advanced to compete at Nationals in Houston, Texas. She devoted much time, effort, and focus to the advancement of vocational instruction.
During their 49 years of marriage, Julia and Emory enjoyed attending auctions, traveling the United States, including several trips to Alaska, and horse back riding. They were members of the Lariat Saddle Club and the San Juan Good Sams RV Club. They were involved for many years volunteering for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They especially enjoyed checking blue bird boxes. They were active members of the Montrose Church of the Nazarene where she served on the board and helped lead the Senior Adult Ministry.
Julia was deeply loved and appreciated by her family, students, and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Arndt, stepson, Frank, son-in-law, Arnold Michaud, parents, Julius and Ruth Prottengeier, brothers, Clarence Fowler and Calvin Fowler, sister, Dorothy Utne, one nephew, a grandson, and a great granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte Becker (Gary) of Rapid City, SD, Gayla Michaud of Crawford, CO, and Marylouise Dannels (John) of Newton, IA, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

First Church of the Nazarene
A Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 9th, at 10:00AM at The First Church of The Nazarene, burial to follow at Grand View Cemetery.
