Josephine Hecht Maestas

On December 24th, 2023 the angels came and took Josie up to her savior. Josephine (Josie) Hecht Maestas was born on March 26th, 1945 in Great Falls, Montana to Alfonso and Pauline Hecht. In 1948 Alfonso and Pauline relocated the family to Montrose, Colorado where Josie attended local schools graduating from Montrose High School in 1963. In 1969 Josie met Charlie Maestas and the couple were married in 1970. Josie and Charlie had one child in 1971 named Tammra Marie. Josie became a licensed beautician from 1977 onwards and worked as a stylist for many years in the Montrose area. Josie was employed by City Market for 27 years leading her into retirement. Josie continued to work post retirement by gaining employment with the Montrose County School District for approximately six years. Josie enjoyed caring and providing for her family as well as traveling with her daughter to multiple sporting events. Josie also enjoyed watching movies and reading books of her choice in addition to listening to classic 50’s music.

Josie is survived by her daughter Tarnmra Marie Maestas-Herman, Son in Law Derek Herman, Grandchildren Dezeray (Matt) Hannigan, Kaitlynn (Kirk) Boyd and Cameron Herman as well as Great Grandchildren Adalyn, Brantley and Owen Hannigan, Kirk Boyd IV and Eden Boyd. Josie is further survived by her Brothers Martin and Richard Hecht and Sisters Eleanor Klaus and Irene McNulty. Josie is proceeded in death by her Mother and Father, Pauline and Alfonso Hecht, Brothers Raymond, Charles, Edward and Alfonso K. Hecht. The service for Josie will be held on January 12th at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 1855 St. Mary’s Drive in Montrose with a reception to follow.
