Jim A. Vigil
February 23, 1950 – April 24, 2020
Jimmy (Jim) Vigil of Olathe, Colorado, passed away on April 24, 2020. He was 70 years old.
Jim was born Feb. 23, 1950, in Del Norte, Colorado to Ernestine and Alex Vigil. Jim married the love of his life, Joyce (Archuleta) on Jan. 27, 1979. They were married for 41 years.
Their marriage brought daughter Nestorita (Paul) of Montrose and son Andrew (Sheri) of Aurora; grandchildren Anthony of Olathe; Dorian, Savannah and Kaine of Montrose, Geno and Diego of Aurora; great nieces Maky, Connie.
Jim is also survived by sisters Mary Ann, Luella and Marilyn of the Denver area; Amy of Olathe; brothers Daniel, Frank, Alex, Tim and Delmer of Montrose/Olathe.
Jim graduated from Olathe High School in 1970. He worked 37 years for the Denver & Rio Grande Railroad, then with Union Pacific Railroad.
It was known, Jim was the biggest Bronco fan. Folks on Redlands Mesa would report when the Broncos were losing – they could hear the third language.
In 1966, Jim and his brothers started a band called The Flamingos and later as My Brothers and I. They went on tour starting in 1971, touring the Holiday Inn’s. They also opened up for the band Chicago. The band cut three records during their time.
In addition, for his love of music, Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors going fishing and hunting.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
