Jerry Mitchell Gassiot

Jerry Mitchell Gassiot, 86, of Montrose Colorado, passed away on December 7^th, 2023. He was born on October 17, 1937, in Bollinger Texas to Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Gassiot. Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Kathryn (Kathy) Gassiot and their children: daughter Dawniell M. Gassiot, her daughter Serena K.M. McNamer and Serena’s daughter Rylee M. Ford; chosen daughter Chaucey Edwards. Son: Jedediah J. Gassiot, his wife Emma and their daughters Sydney M. Gassiot-Wallace and Shawna M. Gassiot. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bill, David, and Jo.

Jerry had a fulfilling career, starting as a fireman and then transitioning into sales in the steel industry. He concluded his professional journey as the Division Manager for Reliance Steel in Wyoming before retiring in 1998. Jerry and Kathy settled in Montrose, where he often expressed that the valley was his slice of heaven.

In his leisure time, Jerry and Kathy traveled and met so many wonderful people and had wonderful adventures. He pursued various hobbies that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and woodworker. Additionally, he had a deep passion for civil war history and was an enthusiastic reader.

Jerry’s private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The caring professionals at Crippin Funeral Home in Montrose, Colorado, are assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flower donations please donate in Jerry’s name to Grace Community Church benevolence fund or the National Kidney Foundation.

It is with a heart felt thank you to those who have loved and supported us through many years with grace and caring. A very special thank you to Dr. Michael Brezinsky who through 23 years showed Jerry compassion and wonderful care. Jerry Mitchell Gassiot will be remembered for his dedication and love of the Lord, friends and his successful career and his many hobbies. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew and loved him.
