James (Jim) Donald Jackett

December 29, 1971 — October 24, 2023

James (Jim) Donald Jackett, age 51 of Montrose, Colorado, passed away on October 24th, 2023.

Jim was born on December 29th, 1971 to Anna Marie Jackett and Donald George Jackett.

After graduating from Rifle High School in 1990, he went on to study Social Work at Colorado Mesa University. He later received a Master’s degree in Social Work from Colorado State University. In 2002, he moved with his family to Montrose, Colorado, where he impacted many in his career as a social worker. Jim spent the next fifteen years working for Montrose County. In 2017, he began working for the Dolphin House, a child advocacy center within the community. When the opportunity arose for him to provide services for the Montrose County School District later in 2017, Jim accepted, and that is where he spent the remainder of his career.

Outside of work, Jim found joy in being with his family and spending time outdoors. As a child, Jim spent a great deal of time on the family ranch, where, alongside his father, he learned the art of hunting. This inspired life-long love and skill that he was proud to pass on to and share with his children.

Jim is survived by children Sarah Jackett and Ethan Jackett, and their mother Cheri Davidson; his mother, Anna Jackett; sisters Pam Hutton and Julie (Mark) Burner; nephews Dustin (Kaylen) Burner, Ty Hutton, Chad Hutton, and Tucker Hutton; nieces Courtney (Josh) DelGuidice, Emily Burner, and Grace Burner. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Jackett, and his brother-in-law Jesse Hutton.

A memorial service will be held Saturday November 4th, 2:00 PM at Celebration Church, 2900 Sunnyside Rd, Montrose, CO 81401.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dolphin House Child Advocacy Center in Montrose, CO. Donations can be made on their website or sent directly to the Dolphin House via mail. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory of Montrose is assisting the family. (970)249-2121.
