Gary “Phil” Dogert, age 86 years, of Eckert, CO. He passed away on Friday January 9th, 2026 after having a Stroke on the 7th.

Phil was born on 9/19/39 to Elmer and Urla (Long) Dogert in San Jose’, CA. He was close to his younger Sister Carol Harris a resident of Colorado.

He became a Big Iron Construction worker, building skyscrapers in California and other parts of the USA.

He married Betty and they had 4 children. Debbie, Sherri, David, and Gregory. On December 30th, 1988, he married Olga (Martinez). He became a dad to 3 more, Mary, Denny, & Kristy. In 1989, Phil and Olga had a son, Russell A Dogert. Phil had 16 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife Betty and his son, Russell A Dogert.

Phil enjoyed drinking beer, playing pool, fishing, hunting, construction, landscaping, drinking beer, playing music, reading Louis’ L’Amour books, drinking beer, telling jokes and stories. Doing these activities with his friends and family gave him the most joy. His laugh was unforgettable.

In his last weeks he owned a Chevy Truck, Celebrated his wedding anniversary, Celebrated the New Year at the Pondy playing pool, drinking beer, & dancing with his family and friends.

Sometimes, the one who made you feel the safest has to leave this Earth, long before we’re ready. But maybe, they were meant to protect you first on Earth and now from Heaven.

Thank you for your continued guidance, Dad. Debbie & Mike; Sherri & Joe; David & Amy; Greg; Mary & Michael; Denny; Kristy and Clint. He will be missed by all of us. Please share a Phil Story in the comments.
