Gailard D. Haumont, 85, of Montrose, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2026, at Valley Manor Care Center.

Born on July 3, 1941, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Owen and Lois Haumont, Gailard moved to Montrose as a young boy and became a lifelong resident of the community. He attended local schools and built a long career in the construction trades. Gailard contributed to numerous building projects across the region over many decades. 

Gailard lived a life rooted in the simple rhythms of small-town living—hard work by day and camaraderie by evening playing darts and pool at local gathering spots. He will be remembered for his loyalty to friends, his love of friendly competition, and the way he brightened rooms with his humor and easygoing nature. His generous spirit made him a welcome presence wherever he went, and he formed many lasting bonds with friends who became like family. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen and Lois Haumont; his brother, Dwight; and his sister, Karen. 

Gailard is survived by his daughter, Tracey; his son, Randy; his sister, Sherry Fresques, and brother-in-law, Nick Fresques.

 Friends and family are warmly encouraged to celebrate his life through cherished memories, shared stories, and a raised glass in his honor.
