Frederick John Zajechowski

It is with great sadness that the family of Frederick John Zajechowski, 'Fred', announce his passing. 

Fred, age 96, passed away at his home in Montrose, Colorado on May 13, 2024 from congestive heart failure. He showed courage in facing life challenges and stayed strong to the end.

Fred met the love of his life, Joan [Brudjuk], while bowling, a passion they both shared, and married on July 29, 1967. Together they created a lasting love of over 56 years.  Fred is survived by his wife, Joan and stepdaughter Gina Robison.  He is preceded in death by sister Celia, stepsister Josephine and stepdaughter Lisa.

Fred was born and raised in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts on May 3, 1928, to Polish immigrants Andrew Zajechowski and Mary [Drzal].  Although Fred did not have a college education, he made a successful career as a top manufacturing engineer with Smith and Wesson in Springfield, Massachusetts before retiring, moving to Arizona, and finally to his final home in Montrose, Colorado.

Fred had a fulfilling and well-lived life with his beloved wife Joan.  And as Nishan Panwar once said, "We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, the achievements we made and the people we loved.  So make sure your story is a good one."

The Vigil and Rosary will be held at Crippin Chapel Funeral home on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Saint Mary Catholic Church on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. Both located in Montrose, Colorado. 

Fred was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church and passionate about supporting Second Chance Humane Society and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the above-mentioned organizations, in his remembrance.
