Emilio Ernandez Gomez, 72, of Montrose, Colorado, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026, in Montrose. He was born on October 30, 1953, in Corsicana, Texas, to Gregorio Gomez and Anita Ernandez.
Emilio was a true jack of all trades. He could build or remodel just about anything, and many of his best projects were made for his beloved wife, Adelfina. He filled the house with music on his accordion and guitar, but nothing made him happier than being under the hood fixing a car. To his close family, he was simply known as "Mr. Hood."
Emilio is survived by his wife, Adelfina Cantu Gomez; his children, Reynalda Pino Gomez (Ismael Pino Franco), Reynaldo Gomez (Isabel Vargas), Mary Cantu, Adelfina Martinez, Anita Gomez (Jaime Dominguez), Angelita Gomez (Ed Becker), Mario Gomez (Veronica Martinez-Gomez), Jose Gomez (Adreena), and Rosita Lujan; his siblings, Isabel, Jose, Angela, Oralia, Greg, Rosendo, Anadina, Norma, Juanita, and Luis; his grandchildren, Pedro Julian Medel, Emilio Carlos Pino Gomez, Adriana Saenz, Ismael Pino Gomez, Demetric Gomez, Joseph Gomez, Christiana Gomez, Julian Vargas Gomez, Christopher Vargas Gomez, Eurayllie Cantu, Isaac Aparicio-Cantu, Luis Quinteros-Cantu, Monica Rodriguez, Fernando Martinez Jr., Itzel Martinez, Christian Martinez, D'Angelo Dominguez, Donavan Dominguez, Alexander Gomez, Saija Gomez, Ulysses Alexander Flores, Anabrie Martinez-Gomez, Abriam Martinez-Gomez, Anthonny Gomez, Juan Gabriel Gomez, Avalee Gomez, Anaiyah Gomez, Jose Gomez Jr., Arabella Gomez, Annalea Gomez, Alison Gomez, and Romeo Lujan; his 12 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gregorio Gomez; his mother, Anita Ernandez; his brother, Simon Gomez; his son, Juan Gomez; and his grandson, Gabriel Pino Gomez.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main Street, Montrose. Burial will take place Friday, October 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Grand View Cemetery, on what would have been his 73rd birthday.
Family and friends are invited to a meal following the burial at 1:00 p.m. at Montrose Christian Church, 2351 Sunnyside Road, Montrose.
Flowers may be sent to Crippin Funeral Home.
