Elbert “Gene” Bowen, age 77 passed away, surrounded by family, at Montrose Memorial Hospital, August 17, 2017. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Montrose.
Gene was born in Fossil, Wyoming on January 25, 1940, to Lorenzo Bowen and Gladys Martha Layland. He was married to his high School sweetheart, Judy McDonald on July 24, 1959, in Gallup, New Mexico. Gene lived and worked in the Delta/Montrose area since he was 14 years old. His life was filled with a love of camping, music, singing, and cars, and he was actively involved in the Church.
Gene is survived by his wife Judy, three children, Sid and wife Ann, Rhonda and husband Steve, and Mitch and wife Crystal. Also one grandchild, Jessica and husband Matt, and three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brady, and Ellie. Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory in Montrose is assisting the family.
