08-31-1937 06-01-2018
David John Logan was born in Durango Colorado on August 31, 1937, the son of Kennith Tobin Logan and Zelma Zink Logan. He was a fifth generation Colorado native. His two brothers Kennith and Larry preceded him in death. He was of Scottish and German descent and said that was the probable cause of his stubborn tenacity.
His first wife Lillian Tooley preceded him in death. He married Sandra Lloyd and that marriage ended in divorce. He married Laney Miles Spiers on July 20, 1990 in Montrose. She survives as well as his children Connie Logan Montano and Christopher Logan. His son Ronald Logan is deceased. He has two stepchildren: Shaun Spiers and Shelli Spiers. There are seven grandchildren: Cristie Montano (deceased), Kila Montano, Angela Montano, Becky Montano, Thomas Logan, Brock Logan and Riley Spiers. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dave loved spending time with his family. He is also survived by many good friends that he cared about very much. He enjoyed visiting with them, especially about politics.
Dave was a Coors Beer Distributor for several years having owned Silver Lion Coors in Montrose, one of his proudest accomplishments. He was an emeritus member of Club 20. Dave fiercely loved his community and the Western Slope. He was active in community affairs including MEDC, MAMA and several county boards believing we all have an obligation to leave our community better than we found it.
He was so impressed with Montrose when he moved here 53 years ago. Montrose had a rural work ethic and values of self-reliance and friends and neighbors helping one another in times of need.
Dave loved travel especially to Canada, California, Hawaii and Las Vegas. He attended many fights in Las Vegas having obtained autographs of some of the greatest fighters. An avid Bronco fan he traveled to Denver many times to watch them play.
He was very thankful for the wonderful care and deep concern of Suzanne Carmody, FNP, Dr. William Faragher and Dr. Shad Saunders and considered them his friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, June 22 at Grace Community Church at 11:00 a.m. Crippin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hope West Hospice, 725 S. 4th St., Montrose, CO 81401.
