David Alan Lutz

November 4, 1936 — August 27, 2019

David Alan Lutz, Sr., age 82, of Montrose, CO, passed away surrounded by his children on August 27, 2019.  Dave was born on November 4, 1936 to Russell and Ruth (Myers) Lutz in Denver, Colorado.  He married Jewell Ann Welch on May 20, 1961 in Arvada, CO. and resided in Denver, CO.  They celebrated 56 years of marriage. Dave served in the United States Army stationed in Korea 1958 – 1959.  He was a Union Carpenter for 41 years before moving to Montrose following his retirement.

Dave loved spending time with his family and friends fishing, hunting, and camping at various lakes and areas in Colorado and the western United States.  He enjoyed watching Denver Bronco games and was a loyal fan.  He and Jewell enjoyed riding their ATV with the Uncompahgre Trail Riding Association.  He routinely drove Jewell to slot tournaments in Laughlin, NV then began participating where they both enjoyed the adventure and spending time with their friends.  He looked forward to weekly lunches and dinners with his long-time friends from Arvada, CO now living in Montrose, CO and ATV friends from Olathe, CO and Montrose, CO.

Dave is survived by his children David (Val) Lutz Jr, of Delta, CO;  Tracie Giovanni of Littleton, CO; grandchildren Alycia (Sam) Quraini of Aurora, CO and David Lutz III of Triangle, VA; great grandson Jameson Quraini of Aurora, CO; sister Beverly (Cliff) Wieck of Clifton, CO and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Jewell Lutz and sister Jean Rose.

Service in remembrance of Dave will be held in the Chapel at Crippin Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:00 am.  Memorial contributions can be made to HopeWest-Delta, 195 Stafford Lane, Delta, CO 81416.
