Culley Winter August 26, 1977 – September 2, 2026

Culley Winter passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm on September 2nd. A beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, he leaves behind his wife, Shannon, and their daughters, Harper (9) and Willow (7).

Born in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Terry and Patti Winter, Culley grew up alongside his brother, Jeff, and remained closely connected to his family his entire life.

He was an accomplished swimmer from an early age. He became a collegiate swimmer and ultimately reached the Olympic Trials, showcasing a competitive spirit that carried into everything he pursued.

Culley married Shannon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 2014. Together they built a life of adventure, laughter and lasting memories. He was a playful, devoted father whose daughters Harper and Willow were the center of his world.

Professionally, Culley found his calling as a builder. As co-owner of Winter Mountain Craftsmen and a devoted employee of Fortenberry and Ricks, he built beautiful homes in Telluride and Ridgway.

Culley embraced life fully. He valued travel, music, good food, beautiful places, and sharing it with those he loved. Telluride held a special place in his heart, working and playing there. Some of his best days were skiing on the mountain with his family. Culley also loved golf, and some of his happiest moments were spent out on the course with his friends—sharing laughter, competition, conversation, and time together.

Known for his generous, larger-than-life personality, He was a loyal friend, a loving husband, a devoted father, a hard worker, and a man who took great pride in the life he built for the people he loved.

Culley is survived by his wife, Shannon; his daughters, Harper and Willow; his mother, Patti; his brother, Jeff, and sister-in-law, Maria, and their children, Madilyn, Emory, Alayna, Cecilia, and Tommie; his sister and brother-in-law, Stephanie and Tony, and their children, Tristan, Arianna, and Taylor; as well as many beloved relatives, friends, and colleagues.
