Obituary

Cindy Ann Johnson, Age 70 passed away on Monday January 26, 2026 in the loving arms of her husband in Montrose, CO following a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was born on January 23,1956 in Longview, Washington to Evelyn Flowers and George Briggs. They moved to Montrose when Cindy was in elementary school where she lived until she moved to Alaska in 1975 with daughter Elisa, born in 1972. There she met the love of her life, Dave Johnson, while working at Safeway as a baker and later a meat packer. They were married on July 21, 1977 and had many adventures in the 15 years they lived in Anchorage and Soldotna. They were 21 and 22 when they married and worked hard to save up to take their honeymoon a couple of years later. They went to the small islands of Hawaii, Molokai, Maui and Kauai. They road donkeys to the Leper community, a memory they both held dear. They loved it so much they would go often to help the winter chill of Alaska. They both loved the outdoors, her Uncle Vern’s homestead, hunting, fishing, boating, and camping together.

They welcomed their son Dustin in 1983. And moved to Yakima where they lived for several years. Cindy took up glass etching and worked cleaning jobs. They moved back to Montrose for a short time then moved on to Phoenix and later Prescott where she went to massage school. She loved reading, arrowhead hunting, crystal rock collecting, and was always helping and encouraging others. She loved gardening, her houseplants, and always kept an immaculate home. Dave had a great job with Truly Nolan pest control where they took yearly trips with the company on cruises and other adventures which they both loved. Cindy moved back to Montrose in 2010 when her grandson Cash was born and helped with her aging mother. It was shortly after this time she developed rheumatoid arthritis. There is no cure and she had allergic reaction to any medications that could have helped. After years of suffering, she is now in the loving hand of her Lord Jesus who helped her endure, persevere, and hope for a better future which she is now living. She is survived by her loving husband and caregiver Dave of Montrose, CO, sister Nora of Montrose, CO, daughter Elisa (Kent) of Goldendale, WA, son Dustin (Cory) of Prescott, AZ, sister in love (law) she loved to say, Patti (Vic) of Shoreline, WA. Her 6 grandchildren, Leanna, Kent Jr, Kelly, Alex, Syanne, and Cash, as well as 7 great children. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sharon, niece Amy, and great grandson Jerome. Cindy also had many special friends who helped and supported her throughout her life, Pam, Ronlyn and Shae of Montrose, CO.
