Our dear sweet Mom, Grammy, and GG, Bobbie Sue Peters “Sue”, 81, of Montrose, Colorado, died September 28, 2026, at Montage Creek Memory Care. Sue was born in Magdalena, New Mexico on April 25, 1945. She graduated from high school in Chama, NM. It was there while working in the local bank that she met the love of her life, Jim Peters, and they were married in 1963. Jim’s job took them to Santa Fe, NM and then to Montrose in 1964, where they bought the first house sold in English Gardens. Their daughter, Kim, was born in 1965, followed by Karyn in 1967, and Kathleen in 1970. Being a wife and mother was the only thing that Sue ever wanted, and she loved every minute of it. She also adored her grandchildren and they adored her. They lovingly referred to their summer visits with her as “Grammy Camp”. She was a master seamstress, and she sewed everything from baby clothes to prom and wedding dresses and everything in between for her girls. She was also an extremely talented crafter (who sews clothes for Barbie dolls?!). She showed her creations in hobby shows and made them for her delighted girls. Her loving and giving spirit extended to all those she visited in nursing homes and those who were home bound. She loved volunteering at Montrose Christian Church and never tired of serving others. She and Jim were a good match. They did everything together, and he was everything to her. She lost her only love, Jim, in 2006, but continued to serve others because she felt as though God still had more for her to do. Even through her own illness later in life, God continued to use her to bring light into her memory care facility. Everyone who met her loved her and was better for having known her. How do you put into words the beauty of a life well lived to glorify God? She was our “Little Miss Sunshine” and will be sorely missed.

Those she left behind on this earth: her daughter, Kim Taylor and son-in-law Donnie, and grandchildren Kalle Taylor, Kati Parsons, Kari Barnes, and Kristi Taylor; daughter, Karyn Atwood and son-in-law Jason and grandchildren Tori Atwood, Coleman Atwood, and Cade Atwood; daughter, Kathleen Brown and son-in-law Steve, Shaina Dara, Elisa Slevcove, and Nathan Han; thirteen great grandchildren; siblings, Ginger Smith (Wayne) and Steve Hendrix (Bobbie); sisters-in-law, Patty Hendrix and Jan Hendrix.

Those she joined in heaven: her husband, Jim; parents, Bob and Johnnie Hendrix; and siblings Mike, Dave, and Billie.

Celebration of Life will be held at Montrose Christian Church on Friday, October 2nd at 10:00 am.
