Irene Wright

June 16, 1918 - February 10, 2011

 

Etta Irene Wright longtime Olathe resident passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon February 10, 2011 at the Colorow Care Center in Olathe at the age of 92.

Irene was born on June 16, 1918 in Mt. Moriah, Missouri to Charles and Lily May (Zimmerman) Franklin. Irene spent most of her childhood, attended school and graduated from Mt. Moriah High School with the class of 1936. On June 30, 1946 Irene married Russell R. Wright in Troy, Kansas, they celebrate 47 years of marriage before Russell's passing on October 19, 1993 in Montrose.

Irene and Russell lived in Missouri, as well as La Junta, Co., prior to moving to the Montrose and Olathe area in 1953. They also spent some time in the Denver area. Irene main focus in life was her family, raising her three children, and spoiling her grandchildren. Irene was a member of the Olathe Methodist Church, which she always enjoyed helping with anything she could do. A big part of Irene's life was also the volunteering she did at the Colorow Care Center. Helping with  many activities from Bingo, to auctions, and bake sales. She cherished each moment with her friends and family at Colorow. Irene also got a great joy out of her garden.

Irene is survived by her children, Kenneth Wright (Cheryl) of California, Ronald Wright of Delta, Co, and Karen Marolf (Pat) of Alpine, Wy. Irene is also survived by her grandchildren Art Wright (Lydia), Russell Marolf, Amy Marolf, and Cassie Wright, and one great-grandchild. As well as numerous nieces and nephews, and the many friends and extended family at Colorow Care Center. Irene is preceded in death by her husband Russell, as well as 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, February 14, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service to honor Irene will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at  11:00 am at the Olathe Cemetery, in Olathe.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in loving memory of Irene may be made to Colorow Care Center Activities Fund, PO Box 710, Olathe, Co 81425 or American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.
