Gordon Edward Tye
October 31, 1917 - October 21, 2011
Gordon Edward Tye age 93 passed away peacefully Friday evening October 21, 2011 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital, just 10 days shy of his 94th birthday.
Gordon was born October 31, 1917 in Griswold, Iowa to Herbert Lester and Anna Audrey (Busic) Tye. Gordon spent most of his childhood growing up on a farm just outside of Griswold, where he attended and graduated high school in Griswold. Gordon attended college in Omaha, NE. On September 15, 1940 Gordon married Betty Carol Mason, this last September celebrating their 71st wedding anniversary.
Gordon proudly served his country in the United State Air Force. Retiring after 22 years of service. The military took Gordon and his family many different places all over the world. Gordon previously resided in Bellevue, NE; Council Bluffs, IA; South Bend, IN; Ottumwa, IA; Riverside, CA; as well as Nouasseur AFB, Morocco.
Survivors include his beloved wife Betty of family home, his sons Gordon Tye of Castle Rock, CO., Gregory Tye of Omaha, NE., and daughters Betty Jean Duckett of Montrose, and Julia Ann Rickman of Bellevue, NE. As well as one sister Patricia Wolf of Omaha, NE. Gordon is also survived by 13 treasured grandchildren, as well as 18 precious great-grandchildren. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Jay, Delvan, and Marlin.
A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, October 24, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services in loving memory of Gordon are scheduled for Tuesday,October 25, 2011, at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church on Niagara in Montrose. Interment will follow at Cedar Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
