Arthur Capper Stickler

Arthur Capper Stickler, age 70, of Montrose, Co., passed away Feb. 6, 2012, at his home, due to heart failure. Art was born June 30, 1941 to Arthur Capper and Bernice Stella (Johns) Stickler in Gunnison, Co. He spent his childhood and graduated from Gunnison High School. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1941 to 1962 when he was honorably discharged. Art was self-employed as a Welder for many years in Gunnison. He loved spending time in the outdoors and enjoyed Trapshooting. Art was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Montrose.
Surviving family members include two sons, Chad (Danille) Stickler of Montrose; Chet (Meriya) Stickler of Silt, Co; three sisters, Joan Stickler of Cedaredge, Co., Lori Stickler of Grand Junction, Co., Sherry Stickler of Anacoco, La; five grandchildren, Wyatt, Cole, Sarah, Landon and Ethan Stickler. Art was preceded in death by one brother, Ted Stickler, father Arthur C. Stickler, and mother Bernice Stickler.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Art’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at 11:00 am at Victory Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Welch officiating. At Art’s request, cremation has taken place and the service will conclude at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
