May Nora Smidt, of Montrose, passed away Mar. 17, 2012, at her home, one day before her 97th birthday. May Nora was born Mar.
18, 1915 to W.S. and Pearl (Markham) Roberts on Franklin Mesa in
Olathe, Co. May Nora Roberts married Thomas Gordon Smidt Nov.
14, 1935 at Montrose.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Gordon Smidt Jr., of Montrose;
daughter Gloria Mae (Smidt) Gage; brother, Con Roberts; sisters
Margaret (Roberts) Cook and Verlee (Roberts) Wilks; grandchildren
Stephen T. Smidt, Mathew L. Smidt, Karen S. Corman, Becky L.
Clark, Shelly Tweedy, Kevin Gage, along with many great and great-
great-grandchildren and Nieces and nephews. May Nora was
preceded in death by her parents, W.S. Roberts and Pearl Roberts,
and siblings, Henry Roberts, Earnest Roberts, W.S. (Huck) Roberts
Jr., Russell Roberts, Raymond Roberts, sisters, Ethel (Roberts)
Andrews and Edith (Roberts) Russell.
A Memorial Service followed by a Celebration of Nora’s Life will be
held at the Montrose Elk’s Lodge on Sunday, Mar. 25, 2012 from
2:00 to 6:00 PM. The Service will conclude at the Elk’s Lodge. In lieu
of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice &
Palliative Care of Western Colorado, In memory of May Nora Smidt,
P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402. Arrangements are under the
care of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
