MONTROSE — Marvella Scharf, 52, passed away on April 23, 2011, at her Olathe home.
Marvella was born Jan. 25, 1959, in Sterling, Colo. to Katherine “Marie” and Marvin Brant, the baby girl in a family of four boys. When Marvella was a small child her mother married Dale Humphrey, the man Marvella always considered her father. On Oct. 22, 1976, Marvella was joined in marriage with Steve Scharf; they shared nearly 35 years of marriage and together raised two children.
Marvella had a love of horses, enjoyed reading and had recently began gardening. However, the majority of her free time revolved around her grandchildren and the latest “project” they had dreamed up together.
Marvella was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend who is already missed terribly by many.
Marvella was preceded in death by her father, Dale Humphrey; brother, Frank Brant; and father in-law, Harold Scharf. She is survived by her mother, Marie Humphrey; husband, Steve Scharf; children, Jody (Kevin) Arnold and Scott Scharf; grandchildren, Austin and Aubree Arnold; brothers, Jay, Dennis and Ron (Betty) Atchley; mother in-law, Vera Scharf; and numerous others who had the pleasure of sharing her life.
At Marvella’s request, cremation has taken place and there are no formal services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
