Frances Emily Ruckman

MONTROSE — Frances Emily Ruckman, age 78, of Montrose, Colo., passed away June 28, 2011 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Frances was born Feb. 25, 1933 to David and Emma (Schrader) Ellis in Laramie, Wyo. She spent her childhood in Medicine Bow, Wyo., graduated from Laramie High School, and married Donald Ruckman on Dec. 2, 1951. They resided in Laramie before relocating to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1956 and have lived in Montrose for the last seven years. Most of her life, she was a homemaker and an excellent seamstress. She also went to Western Cuna Management School in Fullerton, Calif. and received a business certificate and then became the manager of the Arizona Grocer’s Credit Union. Frances was a member of “Friendship Quilters of Western Colorado.” She enjoyed working with her hands, quilting, a hobby that brought her much pleasure. Frances also was an avid reader and belonged to the Methodist Book Club. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Surviving family members include her beloved husband, Donald Ruckman; son, Kirk (Sandy) Ruckman of Cortez, Colo.; daughters, Kerry (Donald) Hasulak of Tempe, Ariz., Kelly (Paul) Negherbon of Republic, Wash.; brother, Fred (Edna) Ellis of Glendale, Ariz. Her nine grandchildren are Amy (Jeff) Drees, Amber (Larry) Ota, Alexander Hasulak, Aubree Hasulak, Crystal (Christopher) Barrett, Jesse Negherbon, Logan Negherbon, Kyle Ruckman and Dustin Ruckman and five great-grandchildren: Jacob, Andrew and Katherine Drees, Lukas and Juliann Barrett. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Kendall. A memorial service, in celebration of Frances’ life, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Montrose Christian Church with reception following.
