Susan D. Romero of Montrose, died on Sunday morning December 11, 2011, in her home, with her family by her side.
Susan Delaine (Eppler) Romero was born on July 8, 1943 in Flint, Michigan. The daughter of James A. Eppler and Helen (Rice) Eppler. She spent her childhood in Flint, Michigan and graduated from Northern High School.
Susan was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma. Susan married Jack Keene in 1963 and they took a great adventure in 1969 when they moved to Estes Park, Colorado. They owned a motel there with their two children Karie and Jason. After selling the motel in 1976, Susan and family moved to Longmont, Colorado. After her relationship ended with Jack, Susan became a school bus driver and reserve police officer. She met Len Brinlee and they ended their relationship years later. Susan then met William Romero, her best friend and love of her life. They RVed together for three years traveling to Florida in the winter and back to Colorado in the summer, finally settling in Montrose, Colorado to be close to family.
Susan loved crocheting; camping at Blue Mesa, shopping at Wal-Mart and being a Grandma, and Great Grandma, Susan will be greatly missed.
Susan D. Romero, is survived by her husband William Romero of the home; daughter, Karie S. Stanley, and husband, Geoff, of Montrose; son, Jason Keene, and wife, Cindy, of Craig Colorado; grandchildren Leann S. Distel, and husband, Tyler of Montrose; Megan M. Stanley of Carbondale, Colorado; great grandchildren Hannah R. Distel, and baby Molly on the way. Also Susan’s brothers James G. Eppler of Michigan and Carl C. Eppler and wife Sharon of Tennessee. And many nephews and cousins.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 13, 2011, from 4pm to 7pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service in loving memory of Susan will be held at the Crippin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, viewing from 1pm to 1:30pm with funeral service at 2pm.
