Kristina J. Powell

Kristina J. Powell, age 47, of Montrose passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011. Kris was born October 24, 1963 to Forrest J. Franks and Carolyn (Thierlein) Franks in Mansfield, Ohio. Four children were born to this union with Kristina being their youngest and only daughter. The family moved to Arizona where Kris graduated from high school and continued her education by receiving her cosmetology license. Kris was married to Tracy Powell and later divorced. Two children were born to this union, Kalen and Rachel Powell. Kris had a strong faith in her God and was a member of Christ Church of the Valley. She lived a very active life pursuing her many interests. Kris was a very dedicated, hard worker in whatever she pursued. She owned A-1 Liquors which she later sold. She was employed by UPS while also working at the Montrose Airport as a ticket agent. Along with her husband, Justin Turner, they owned their own business, “Jump for Joy” together. Kris and Justin had a shared love of cooking and she had such great pleasure in preparing a meal for her family. Kris was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was a very dedicated, hard worker in whatever she pursued. She was also a very proud “Nanna” to her dear little granddaughter, Bailey and found such joy in having her nearby. Kris made friends where ever she went and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Her husband, Justin Turner, gave her so much happiness, love, comfort and support in their many years together.
Surviving family members include, husband, Justin Turner, son Kalen Powell of Oceanside, Calif; daughter, Rachel (Bobby Solis) Powell, granddaughter, Bailey Dawson of Montrose, mother, Carolyn Franks of Show Lowe, Ariz; brothers, Jeff (Janet) Franks, Andy (Cindy) Franks, Mike (Robin) Franks all of Chandler, Ariz. Kristina was preceded in death by her father, Forrest J. Franks. At Kristina’s request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Christ Church of the Valley, on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Cancer Center, c/o Francie Smiles, 600 S. 5th Street, Montrose, Co. 81401. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colo.
