Virginia A. “Ginny” (Cochran) Papez

Ginny Papez, age 51, of Montrose, Co., took the Lord’s hand when called on Thursday, Mar. 15, 2012 at her home with her family at her side. Ginny was born Oct. 7, 1960 to John and Jean (Brandenburg) Cochran in Durango, Co. She spent her childhood in Olathe and graduated from Olathe High School. Ginny was employed at Weatherport, located in Delta for 16 years; starting at the bottom and worked her way up to Production Manager. Ginny married Greg Papez on Jan. 22, 2000 in Montrose. She was a member of Grace Community Church and a recent member of the Grace Community Cancer Support Group, where she quickly made new friends and inspired them all. Ginny loved the outdoors; dirt bikes, snowmobiles, fishing and camping. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. She didn’t take life for granite, she lived life to it’s fullest. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving family members include her husband, Greg of the family home in Montrose; parents, Joe and Patty Papez of Meeker, Co; two stepsons Kyle Papez of Meeker but working in North Dakota, Mark Papez of Meeker, serving in the U.S. Army in Afganistan; daughter, April Cochran of Montrose, and her son Darien White, Ginny’s only grandson; sisters Teri Hellman of Delta, Co., Connie Ellison of Delta, Co., Tammy Bower of Montrose, Co., half-sister Betty VanNoy of Del City, Ok; half-brother Danny Cochran of Oklahoma City, Ok. Ginny was preceded in death by her mother, father and a nephew.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Ginny’s life will be held on Friday, Mar. 23, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Grace Community Church with Minister Calvin Schwarz officiating. The service will conclude at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, in memory of Ginny Papez, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402. The family would also like to thank all of staff at the Montrose Cancer Center and especially the nurses of Hospice & Palliative Care in Montrose for all their love, attention and efforts in every way.
