MONTROSE — Richard G. Moore, age 75, of Montrose, passed away Nov. 20, 2010, at his home. Richard was born Dec. 27, 1934 to Lancaster John and Josephine M. (Keating) Moore in Salem, Mass. He spent his childhood and completed his education in Salem. Richard served his country in the United States Navy. He married Barbara Anne Dawson on June 21, 1962 in Canada, and they shared 48 years together in Canada and the U.S. They moved to Montrose earlier this year from Utah where they had lived for 18 years. He was a chef, carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in the garden. Richard spent many years researching and teaching genealogy.
He will be greatly missed by his family. Surviving family members include his wife, Barbara Moore of Montrose; daughter, Colette Renee (Moore) and husband, Mark Miller of Ouray, Colo.; brother-in-law, Frank Dawson of Utah; and sister-in-law, Linda Johnson of Washington.
A memorial service in celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Stratford in Montrose. The service will conclude at the church.
Private family inurnment will be held at Cedar Cemetery, Montrose.
