Evelyn Lorraine McHenry, age 85, died Sunday, April 1 2012 at Colorow Care Center in Olathe, CO.
Evelyn was born December 25, 1926 in Belmont, Kansas to Mary (Klaver) and William McCrory. She was raised on a farm, and worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita as a “Rosie Riveter” during WWII. She received a teaching certificate from Friends University in Wichita and taught in a one room school house. She married Harvey J McHenry November 30, 1952 during a Kansas blizzard. They moved to Olathe, CO in 1956, where they have lived since.
Evelyn taught many Olathe children how to play the piano, and was active in the Olathe United Methodist Church. Evelyn and Harvey enjoyed camping and traveling. Evelyn was a good cook and was always looking for new recipes to try.
Evelyn is survived by her spouse, Harvey; son Dean of Olathe; daughter Elaine Buda of Grand Junction, CO, and grandson’s Paul and Spencer Buda.
Services will be Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Olathe United Methodist Church, 512 South Hersum. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations can be made to Olathe United Methodist Church, PO Box 148, Olathe, CO 81504. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
