MONTROSE — Sandra Lou Penasa McDowell, age 54, of Montrose, Colo., passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Sandy was born in Grand Junction, Colo. to the union of James and Marie Penasa. Her childhood years were spent in numerous areas of Colorado due to her father’s employment. She graduated from high school in Craig, Colo. Sandy moved to Montrose in 1979 and worked at various endeavors while raising her two sons, Jamie and Brian. After being overtaken by illness, she was confined to home and became an avid reader and especially enjoyed her at home bible study.
Sandra is survived by her parents, James and Marie Penasa; sons, James Wood of Montrose and Brian Wood of Price, Utah; sisters, Rose (Lonnie) Oversole, Coleen (Ray) Haigler; brother, Eugene (Amy) Penasa; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents, a grandson and a nephew. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
