Ida Mae Kehl

MONTROSE — Ida Mae Kehl, age 83, of Montrose, passed away Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at San Juan Living Center in Montrose. Ida was born to Emery Arthur and Irma Lucille (Garman) Hamilton on June 2, 1927 in Coldwater, Kan. The family later moved to Colorado where Ida spent her childhood and received her education. By a previous marriage to Ray Kitsmiller in Montrose, four children were born; Raymond, Harry, Robert and Karon Kitsmiller. Raymond preceded Ida in death. She married Paul "Merle" Kehl in Montrose. Merle preceded her in death in June, 2007.
Surviving family members include two sons, Harry and Robert Kitsmiller of Montrose, and daughter, Karon Kitsmiller of Durango, Colo.; one brother, Emery E. Hamilton of Montrose; sisters, Catherine Bliss of Montrose, Vivian Miles of Idaho and Jean Millican of California; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Ida was President of Emblem Club #91 and was an active member. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. She enjoyed tending to her garden each year and her family enjoyed her dill pickles.
Ida was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Kitsmiller; brother, Raymond Hamilton; sister, Alice Meyers; and her husbands, Ray Kitsmiller and Paul "Merle’"Kehl. Memorial contributions may be made to The Elk’s Lodge #1053 of Montrose, in memory of Ida Kehl, 801 S. Hillcrest, Montrose, CO 81401. At Ida’s request, no services are planned.
