Edna Lucille Kanallakan

Edna Lucille Kanallakan, age 82, a resident of Delta, Colo., took the Lord’s hand when he called her home on Monday evening, Nov. 7, 2011 at the family farm on Ash Mesa. Edna was born April 12, 1929 to Edward and Freda (Kraut) Schleeper in Hardin Ill. She spent her childhood and graduated from high school in Hardin. Following high school, Edna married Marvin Kanallakan on Sept. 6, 1946 in Hardin. He preceded her in death in May 1980. The family moved to Prescott, Ariz., where they resided for eight years. In 1965, they moved from Prescott to the Ash Mesa area of Delta, where they made their home until Edna’s time of death.
Edna’s life was her home, and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed gardening, and loved to travel. Edna would donate her time at Volunteers of America in her spare time.
Surviving family members include her two daughters, Sandy (Danny) Inman of Montrose, and Jane (Rick) Kauffman of Clifton, Colo; one sister, Leila Pieper of Jerseyville, Ill; four grandchildren, Tracy (Jody) Smith, Tina (Travis) Rowley, Keith Stevens and Michelle Foster; and eight great-grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one daughter, Judy Stevens.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in the Olathe Cemetery, Olathe, Colo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Senior Community Meals, in memory of Edna Kanallakan, 11407 Hwy. 65, Eckert, Co. 81418. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colo.
