Reid Joseph Joyce, age 74, died Friday morning, Arp. 13, 2012 at his home, following a brief but difficult battle with cancer.  Reid was born Apr. 3, 1938 to William J. and Lyndall E. (Burch) Joyce in Delta, Co.  He spent his childhood  in Delta, and graduated from Delta High School in 1956.  Reid went onto Mesa Jr. college in Grand Junction.  He married Alice Weams on Oct. 6, 1961 in Littleton, Co.  They had also resided in Nucla, Grand Junction and Denver, Co., before relocating to Montrose, where they made their home until Reid’s time of death.  Reid loved spending time with family, and gambling trips out of town was a favorite that Reid and Alice enjoyed doing together.  He was an avid sports fan, especially the Denver Broncos, and the Colorado Rockies.  Reid will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He was a very special husband, father, brother, friend and was so deeply loved by them all.

Surviving family members include his wife, Alice Joyce of the family home in Montrose; son Kevin Reid Joyce, a new resident of Montrose since moving from Missouri where he had resided for 12 years; sisters Sandra Bailey of Carlin Nev., Lyndall Johnson and Melissa (Les) Hamilton, all of Delta, Co., his extended family, sisters-in-law and husbands of Grand Junction; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Reid was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kerry William Joyce died in 1982.

Box 1804, Montrose, Co. 81402 or to the Lyndall 'Lella' Young Liver Transplant Fund, c/o Bank of Colorado, 145 W. 4th St., Delta, Co 81416. Lella is Reid's great neice now 4 years old, under went transplant surgery at 8 months old. Due to a rare liver problem found when she was only 2 months old.

 
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Apr. 19, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Crippin Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow the service at Grand View Cemetery, west of Montrose.   Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Co.
