Charles L. Jensen

Charles L. Jensen, age 81, a resident of Montrose and former resident of Redvale, Colo., passed away on Aug. 26, 2011. Charles was born Sept. 22, 1929, to Louie and Minnie Alice (Souther) Jensen at Ft. Collins, Colo. He spent his childhood and received his education in Norwood. Charles married Laura A. Smith on June 20, 1959, in Montrose. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1995, in Montrose. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Charles was a former board member of the Farmer’s Water Development and Cone Reservoir for many years and the A.S.C.S. for more than 20 years. He loved the outdoors, and his life was spent ranching and working the land. A favorite pastime was hunting and fishing.
Surviving family members include his son, Jay Jensen of Montrose; daughters, Nina Nixon of Iowa, Alice (Ralph) Henshaw of Montrose and Charlene (Bobby) Starks of Norwood; sister, Ethel (Roy) Reiva of Redvale; sister-in-law, Jessie Jensen; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Laura; parents, Louie and Alice Jensen; and one brother, Edward Jensen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norwood-Redvale Fire and Ambulance Service, in memory of Charles Jensen, P.O. Box 411, Norwood, CO 81423. A graveside interment service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Norwood Cemetery, in Norwood. Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E.
