Mable 'Lynn' Hubert
Sept. 7, 1926 — Oct. 30, 2010
MONTROSE — Mable "Lynn" (Kitsmiller) Hubert passed away on Oct. 30, 2010, at her home in Montrose, Colo., following a lengthy illness. Her bright smile and sunny outlook on life will be missed by those who loved her.
Lynn was born Sept. 7, 1926 in Dodge City, Kan. to Harry W. Kitsmiller and Lola Butts. She was the much-loved younger sister to five older brothers. The family moved to Montrose when she was in high school and owned and operated the Ideal Food Store. She attended and graduated from Montrose High School in 1944. She went on to get her Nursing degree from St. Luke's Hospital in Denver, Colo.
Lynn married William (Bill) E. Hubert, April 21, 1950 in Pacific Grove, Calif. Bill was a Captain in the Navy and his duties took them to Sweden, Norway, Hawaii and California to live. They were blessed with five children: Lorrie (Jim) Hubin of Escondido, Calif., Erik Hubert of Montrose, Colo., Diane (Wayne) Cookston of Craig, Colo., Susan (Stuart) Steinmark of Fort Collins, Colo. and David (Lisa) Hubert of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was also "Grandma" to 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Lynn and Bill celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2001.
Lynn was a member of the United Methodist Church in Montrose. She enjoyed working with the United Methodist Women and being a member of the Hope Circle. Lynn was also a P.E.O. member and cherished her fellow P.E.O. sisters. Volunteer work meant a great deal to Lynn. Her giving heart led her to work as a hospital volunteer and to deliver Meals-On-Wheels. Special interests for Lynn included crafting, gardening, going to the community theater productions and spending time with family at "Cloud Nine," the family cabin in the mountains. Her social calendar never slowed down, and she treasured her time with her many close friends.
Come smile with us as we reflect on the joys Lynn found in the little things of everyday life. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Montrose. The service will conclude at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in loving memory of Lynn, to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402 or Montrose United Methodist Church, 19 S. Park Ave., Montrose, CO 81401.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Crippin Funeral Home, 802 E. Main St., Montrose, CO 81401 (970) 249-2121.
