Joel Thomas Hildebrand

August 13, 1970 ~ October 9, 2010

Joel Thomas Hildebrand lost his strong, courageous battle Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the age of 40.  Joel loved being in the outdoors.  He loved skiing and had served on the Copper Mountain Ski Patrol.  He was an avid ice and rock climber.  Joel was very proud of and loved his job in aviation at Western Skyways.  Joel especially loved fishing and spending time with his beloved girls.  Joel could always be counted on for support or hard work.  Joel was a devoted husband, father, brother and son.  Above all, the most important thing to Joel was his wife and daughters.  Joe was preceeded in death by his brother Micah, whom Joel took such great care of after his accident.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Katie and favorite two girls, Kassie and Maddy; his father, John Hildebrand, mother Susan Laning Hildebrand; brother, Dontje Hildebrand; sister, Lacy Hildebrand; Grandmother, Shirley Connely and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A special thanks to all who were involved in Joel’s care.  In lieu of flowers, an account is established as “The Joel Hildebrand Memorial Fund” to any Wells Fargo branch, for the family.

“I have fought the good fight.  I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”  2 Timothy 4:7.

A Memorial Service in celebration of Joel’s life will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 11:00 am at Crippin Chapel with Mark Miller, of Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Colorado. A reception will follow the service at the family home until 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home & Crematory, Montrose, Colorado.
