Icel E. Harrell

Dec. 26, 1921 —  March 1, 2011

 

MONTROSE — Icel E. Jones Harrell, age 89, of Montrose, passed away March 1, 2011, at Sunrise Creek in Montrose with her loving daughter, Carol; granddaughter, Kristi and son-in-law, Jim by her side.

Icel was was born Dec. 26, 1921, to Eugene and Adith (Page) Jones in Lucas, Iowa. Icel married M. Ray Harrell on Sept. 28, 1940, in Bisbee, Ariz. Icel and Ray enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage before Ray passed away. Icel and Ray had one beloved daughter, Carol Margaret, born in Kingman, Ariz.

One of Icel's greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Icel was a past Noble Grand of The Rebekah Assembly, a member of the choir at the United Methodist Church, a beloved volunteer reader for shut-ins and was an avid volunteer for several senior citizen groups while living in Texas. Icel loved painting, traveling, singing and working in her gardens. Icel especially adored dancing with her husband any chance she got.

Icel is survived by her beloved daughter, Carol Allen and husband Jim; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Delbert Jones of New York; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011, at the Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas. Memorial contributions, in loving memory of Icel Harrel, may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 1804, Montrose, CO 81402.
